UP govt has requested for greenfield airport at Jewar: Sharma
Press Trust of India New Delhi The Civil Aviation Ministry has received a request from Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister for setting up of a greenfield airport at Jewar, Rajya Sabha was informed today.
"A request from the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh has been received on December 7, 2015 for construction of a greenfield airport at Jewar. However, Government of Uttar Pradesh needs to submit a complete updated proposal in accordance with the Greenfield Airport Policy of 2008," Minister of State for Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma, said in a written reply.
He said the state Government had initially proposed to develop a greenfield airport at Jewar, " however this was later withdrawn by the State Government on November 7, 2012."
Sharma, in response to another question, said that the Government has granted 'site clearance' (first stage clearance) Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor Development Corporation (DMICDC), Central Government Undertaking, for setting up of a greenfield airport for public use near Bhiwadi in Alwar district of Rajasthan on November 18, 2015.
