"During a meeting of the Cabinet chaired by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, a proposal to constitute a state nutrition mission was taken to effectively resolve the problem of malnutrition among children," an official spokesman said here.
He said that the mission will be constituted on the lines of Maharashtra and will have a tenure of three years.
"Decision to extend its term will be taken on the basis of results achieved and officers and staff will be appointed on deputation," the spokesman said.
Corpus fund for day to day activity and action plan of the mission will be taken from the National Rural Health Mission and a governing body headed by the CM will be constituted for its effective implementation.

The Cabinet decided to extend free treatment facility to journalists accredited with the state headquarters at Lucknow's Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, which was welcomed by Hemant Tiwari, president of the UP Accredidated Journalists' Committee.
It was decided that 25 per cent grant, which will be up to Rs one crore, will be given to Hindi Awadhi, Braj, Bundeli and Bhojpuri films, whose 75 per cent shooting was done in UP.
If the director is selected for an award for his film and shoots his second film in the state, the grant under the policy will be Rs 1.25 crore.
