"At village level play ground will be developed on one acre land and at block level one stadium will be developed on 3 acre land. State government has earmarked Rs 166 crore for this project," UP Minister for sports and youth welfare Ramkaran Arya said.
He was speaking at the inauguration function of 50th National roller Skating Championship here.
"This will motivate students and they will become physically fit and we will be able to produce sportsmen of international calibre who will be able to bring medals to country in Asian and Olympic games and other international platforms," he said.
He said that at village level facility for kabadi, wrestling, volleyball and other similar sports will be developed while at Block level hockey, football and cricket facilities will be developed.
"Funds will not be problem as state government has sanctioned maintenance funds of Rs 1 lakh for village level and Rs 5 lakh for block level stadiums," he said.
For Surajpur stadium Rs 2 crores have been sanctioned, he said.
Federation of Noida Residents Welfare Association president N P Singh said, "at least one playground in each sector should be developed where children can play. Though there are many parks in the city but children are not allowed to play games in these parks as it damages park beauty."
