"Owing to demands of the people, Uttar Pradesh government is contemplating to take a slew of measures to integrate tourism with pro-poor policies in Mathura," Amrit Abhijaat, Principal Secretary of Tourism told reporters here today.
"We are considering to deploy police in the tourist spots of the city so that the tourists, both domestic and international, feel safe and secure," he said.
Under the new scheme, steps will be initiated to promote tourism and provide financial assistance to the poor, thus combining culture with economy.
In the first phase, area around the famous 'Bankey Bihari Mandir' in Vrindavan, will be renovated. The local artisans who have been involved in making handicraft items for the temple will be promoted, the official said.
The Secretary also informed that a heritage walk similar to one in Lucknow will also be initiated in the city.
"Development of Vishram Ghat, digitalization for providing more information to tourists, rope way at Barsana, light and sound show at Kusum Sarovar, giving tourism bungalows on lease are some other measures in the pipeline," he added.
