UP govt to focus on heritage tourism

To bring Uttar Pradesh on the international tourism map, heritage places will be developed in the state, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said today.
Emphasising on the need to promote heritage tourism, he said everything could be changed, but not history, and it was the responsibility of the present generation to conserve the heritage and transfer it to the future generations.
With organised development of heritage tourism, the state could progress more as compared to other states in attracting domestic and foreign tourists, Yadav said, while addressing a seminar on Heritage Tourism in the state.
He said prisons of historical importance in the state would also be associated with heritage tourism.
The government would take decision to promote all types of tourism including eco-tourism, he said.
The chief minister said the architecture of every civilisation was important as its construction method and art were contemporary.
He also launched the website of Heritage Hospitality Association of UP and released a magazine of the tourism department.
Speaking on the occasion, special invitee Maharaja Gaj Singh discussed efforts made in the sector of heritage hotels in Rajasthan and said promoting heritage tourism could provide employment to a large number of people.
