UP govt to pay Rs 5 lakh to parents of policemen killed on

Uttar Pradesh government today approved monetary assistance of Rs 5 lakh to parents of policemen who lost their lives in the line of duty.
The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting presided by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav here.
It was decided to extend an ex-gratia of Rs five lakh to parents of serving policemen losing their lives in line of duty, an official release said.
This help will be besides Rs 20 lakh given to the widows or children of officials or employees, it said, adding government took the decision keeping in mind the plight of parents who are left to fend for themselves in case of death of their sons.
The scheme will cover those serving in central para- military forces in other states and Indian Army as well as natives of other states losing their lives in UP.
The cabinet also gave its nod to Samajwadi Swasthya Beema Yojna for the family members of beneficiaries of Samajwadi Pension Yojna extending help of upto Rs two lakh in case of critical illness.
The insurance scheme will be run by SACHI (State Agency for Comprehensive Insurance Scheme) which has been asked to take into account practical problems faced in running the National Health Insurance Scheme and include them in state's interest, the release said.
The cabinet also decided to launch an encouragement policy to restart closed cinema halls in the state, it added.
