Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today said his government was working without "bias and politics" and claimed it has fulfilled the promises made in the party manifesto.
"We have not just fulfilled the promises made in the manifesto but also taken up other projects as per the need.. Metro was not in the manifesto but we are working to give a clean urban transport system," the Chief Minister said in the state Assembly while replying to the motion of thanks on the Governor's address to the joint sitting of the House.
Akhilesh said that his government has given a Metro project to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Parliamentary constituency Varanasi.
"BJP members can understand as to how without bias and politics we are working for urban transport system.. We understood that there was a need for it and so we have also given money for the Metro project in the Prime Minister's constituency," Yadav told the House.
"We take up development and other works without concern whether they are in the areas having MLAs of opposition parties," he said.
Stressing that the government has striven to work for all sectors be it cities or rural areas, Yadav said that a balanced approach has been adopted.

He claimed that "prosperity" has also reached villages and not even future governments will be able to discontinue schemes like the pension scheme for the women.
Taking potshots at the Prime Minister, Yadav said, "his friend (United States) has given F16s to Pakistan which poses the maximum danger to the country".
"Though we do not want to discuss foreign policy in the House here but we have worked to have good relations with our neighbours," he said noting how the state government had sent buses and other form of help at the time of earthquake in Nepal.
On Leader of Opposition Swami Prasad Maurya's barbs that only meetings have been held for bringing investments, Yadav said a beginning has been made and HCL and Medanta are coming to the state capital.
Questioning the BSP leader on what works were done by their government, Yadav said "We gave land for setting up AIIMS in Rae Bareli and Gorakhpur whereas the previous government had kept the then UPA government waiting for five year for the project in Rae Bareli".
Under continued attack on law and order, Yadav said that it was a priority and the government is equally pained over incidents which damage it.
However, the police has worked out cases like the Snapdeal executive's abduction in Ghaziabad and also the case involving a class XII girl in Lucknow and we have to restore a proper policing system so that people could develop faith in it.
We will have to give more facilities to the police, have a system in place which reduces reaction time for the force, he said adding that 30,000 more policemen will be recruited.
Yadav said units under the MSME have been installed in a big way and state's development rate is in double digit.
Later the motion of thanks was passed by a voice vote.
