Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik today asked IAS officers to work on curb corruption terming it as a "cancer" of the society.
"Corruption is cancer of the society. As former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi used to say that only 15 per cent of funds reach actual beneficiaries, steps should be taken to check corruption. You should decide your own frame of action" Naik said.
He said this during a meet with a delegation of 17 IAS officers of 2012 and 2013 batches.
The governor gave four tips of success to IAS probationers asking them "to keep on smiling, praise good work of others, never underestimate others and there is always a better way of doing your job".
Naik while interacting with officers said that major challenges before them was to become catalyst of change and introduce their own methodologies to improve delivering of schems and redressing grievances of people.
The governor also shared his experience with the officers.
