"Timely detection can help a patient save his life ... the treatment of cancer is costly and there is a need to extend monetary help to the organisations working for cancer patients," a Raj Bhawan release quoting the governor as saying.
"I am not speaking as governor but as a cancer survivor," he said on the occasion of World Cancer Day.
Stating that he also suffered from the dreaded disease 20 years ago, Naik said that he overcame it with the help of proper treatment.
