UP has progressed in Samajwadi Party regime: Akhilesh

"Our government has taken several important decisions. Considering the economic crisis when we came to power, UP has gone ahead in socio-economic sector in our tenure," Akhilesh said in an interaction with mediapersons on completing six months in the office.

"If we look towards the figures then the government has performed well. We are not lagging behind in any sector, whether its power, roads or social changes," he said.

The CM said implementation on whatever was written in the manifesto has started.

"Though the manifesto was for five years, but we have tried to fulfil majority of the promises at the earliest. Construction of roads has started and models to bring investment have been promoted," he said.

Akhilesh said the state government has taken several important decision in the power sector.

To ensure better power supply in rural areas it has been decided to separate feeders and the work in this regard would start at large scale soon, he said.

In the series of fulfilling promises, distribution of unemployment allowance has started and announcement to launch schemes like kanya vidyadhan and financial assistance to girls of minority section has been finalised, the CM said.

The distribution of laptop and tablet to students would start from November, he said adding, the government has initiated several schemes in the health sector.

Akhilesh announced to give free water to farmers for agriculture purposes from canal and government tubewells.

Referring to new industrial policy, he said, "Six months back no industrialist wanted to come to UP...But now even big ones want to come. For that SP has created an atmosphere and big investors will come soon."

In a reply to a question, Akhilesh said, "It is true that police department is not working properly and it will take time to improve it. To improve law and order is the responsibility of the government."

He said that the government has controlled corruption, but more efforts were required in the regard.
