An IAS officer, who was suspended on charges of allegedly attempting to rape a girl on a moving train near Lucknow in October last year, has been reinstated by the Uttar Pradesh Government after a "compromise" was reached between him and the girl's family.
The 2001 batch UP cadre officer, Shashi Bhushan Shushil, was today posted as Special Secretary in Irrigation Department. He was Special Secretary of Technical Education when the incident took place.
Shushil was suspended when a complaint was filed against him alleging that he attempted to rape a girl, who along with her mother was travelling in an AC II coach of Lucknow mail from Delhi to Lucknow in October last year.
The girl's mother lodged the complaint after getting down at Lucknow, alleging that the IAS officer had boarded the same coach from Ghaziabad and attempted rape the girl when her mother had gone to a toilet.
Susheel had denied the allegations and said he only had an argument with the two women.
Meanwhile, the state government also transferred two other IAS officers.
Special secretary public enterprise Murlidhar Dubey and Special secretary, Panchyati Raj Dinesh Kumar Singh have been shifted to Food and civil supplies department and Sugar industries and cane development departments respectively in the same capacities.
