Up north, minimum temperatures across Kashmir Valley
Press Trust of Indiarose marginally even as other parts of the state were lashed by light to moderate rainfall. Summer capital Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of 3.1 degrees, up from 2.7 degrees the previous night. The scenic resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir received 6 inches of snow and recorded a minimum of -7 degrees while Pahalgam in south Kashmir saw the mercury settling at -1.4 degrees. In Uttar Pradesh, heavy showers hit normal life in large parts of the state with strong winds adding to discomfiture of the people. Light to moderate showers occurred at most places in the state with Karvi in Chitrakoot and Najibabad in Bijnore district recording 50 mm each of rainfall. MeT officials said rain and thundershowers were expected across the state in the the next two days with squalls and hailstorms likely at isolated places. Moderate to heavy showers drenched most places in Punjab and Haryana with the weather office attributing the rains to western disturbance over north Pakistan and its neighbourhood. Narnaul and Ambala in Haryana received 21 mm and 14.4mm of rainfall and Ludhiana in Punjab 8.5 mm. Showers were reported in parts of Rajasthan for the second day running with Barmer receiving 25 mm of rainfall.
