Addressing district police chiefs of Meerut Range at Harsaon police lines here, Yadav said that law and order situation, particularly in western Uttar Pradesh, is sensitive.
The senior police official said that the mixed populace of the region can be one of the reasons behind such incidents.
District police chiefs have been directed to identify such anti-social elements and book them under NSA, irrespective of their caste, creed, religion or political affiliations, he told reporters.
On being asked about the police preparedness in the wake of the Punjab terror attack, Yadav said that concerned agencies are doing their work and it is not a matter that has to be publicized.
The meeting was attended by IG (Crime) R K Swarnkar, IG (Meerut Zone) Alok Sharma, DIG (Meerut Range) Ramit Sharma, DIG (Sharanpur Range) Ashok Raghav, Senior Superintendent of Police (Meerut) Dinesh Chandra Dubey, SSP (Ghaziabad) Dharmendra Singh among others.
