Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe's visit to Varanasi on December 12, the state police has sought 15 companies of Central Paramilitary Force (CPMF) from the Centre as part of the security cover.
"As per the tentative programme, the Prime Minister will reach Varanasi by 3 pm on December 12 and will be leaving for New Delhi the same day, after attending Ganga Aarti at Dasaswamedh Ghat," IG (Law and order) A Satish Ganesh told reporters here today.
He said the Home Department of the state has been asked to seek 15 companies of CPMF to provide security for the Prime Minister during the visit to his constituency.
"Besides CPMF, there would be eight officers of SP rank, 11 DSPs, 600 constables and six companies of PAC," Ganesh said, adding that a video conference to review security arrangements will be held on December 3 by senior officers here.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is slated to visit India on December 11.
Both the leaders had talked about deepening of the Varanasi-Kyoto partnership on the sidelines of 13th ASEAN-India Summit in the Malaysian capital of Kaula Lumpur. The two cities have been declared as twin cities.
