After a photo of expelled BJP leader Dayashankar Singh, paying obeisance at a temple in Jharkhand went viral on social media, Uttar Pradesh police today said it was trying to nab him and Special Task Force (STF) has also been engaged to track his whereabouts.
"We are trying to implement NBW issued against him and a team has been sent to Ballia also. As far as his presence at a religious place is concerned, we are trying to identify those in the photographs," IG, Lucknow Zone, A Satish Ganesh said.
"The STF has also been asked to track the whereabouts of the leader," he added.
A non-bailable warrant was issued against Dayashankar yesterday by special judge of SC/ST court for making derogatory remarks against BSP supremo Mayawati.
An FIR was lodged against the BJP leader on July 20 by the BSP under the SC/ST Act for his derogatory comments against Mayawati.
The complaint, which was lodged by national secretary of BSP Mewalal Gautam, alleged Singh's remarks in Mau on July 20 had hurt the feelings of BSP workers and the Dalit community across the country and that they were aimed at provoking them.
Referring to Singh's comments being telecast on national TV channels, he had said they were so derogatory they could not be mentioned in the complaint and therefore a CD of the same was being submitted.
