UP receives moderate to heavy rainfall

Met office sources said that chief amount of rainfall recorded in cms are- Dalmau, Barabanki, Chibramau, Biswan, Salon -8 each, Bhinga, Aonla -6 each, Elgin bridge -5 each, Balrampur ,Bidhuna, Bhogaon, Narora and Hamirpur -4 each.

The Met office has forecast that rain and thundershowers would occur at a few places over the state during the next 48 hours.

A report from Barabanki said that Batohi (60) died after he fell in flood waters outside Karauni village.

Central Water Commission sources said that Ghaghra was rising menacingly and was flowing 12 cms above the danger mark in Barabanki.

The Ganga was flowing very near the red mark at Fatehgarh and Ballia while Yamuna was just under the red mark at Mathura.

Sharda was still above the red mark at Palia Kalan while Ghaghra at Ayodhya and Turtipar and Rapti at Shrawasti and Balrampur were also near the red mark, sources added.
