UP's 9 dist remained tense during Durga puja, Tazia procession

Over 100 persons were arrested and 25 cases lodged as communal tension prevailed in nine districts during Durga idol immersion and Tazia procession in the state, an official said here today.
Tension prevailed in nine districts - Kannauj, Kanpur city, Fatehpur, Hathras, Ballia, Banda, Deoria, Siddharth Nagar, and Pilibhit - during Durga idol immersion or Tazia procession, Law & Order IG A Satish Ganesh said.
He said that a total of 25 cases have been registered in these districts and 102 persons have been arrested.
Central para military forces have been deployed in three sensitive districts - Kanpur, Kannauj and Fatehpur - and the situation is normal, he said.

The officer said that a report on these incidents have been sought from IGs concerned.
Depending on the report action will be taken against responsible police officers, he said.
"Police laxity at some places has also came to the fore. After the report action will be taken against them," he said.
