UP targets additional 4,000 mw power by next year

To ensure availability of additional 4,000 MW electricity by next year, the Uttar Pradesh power department has been asked to complete under-construction energy projects within stipulated time.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan today directed the power department officials to make under construction power projects operational within stipulated time.
The chief secretary directed that projects like Anpara D at Lalitpur, Barra and others be made operational within stipulated time to ensure availability of more than 4,000 MW power by 2015.
He directed that of 201 proposed under construction sub stations at tehsil level at least 100 should be dedicated to the public by October month.
Alok said that in July and August month new connections were provided to around 24 lakh families which would bring revenue of Rs 1,200 crore per month to the department.
He said that to resolve the problems of the power consumers SMS scheme has been started which should be implemented effectively.
