Up to govt to introduce Code of Conduct in varsities: WB Guv
Press Trust of India Kolkata West Bengal Governor K N Tripathi today said that it is now up to the state government to consider his suggestions and introduce a 'Model Code of Conduct' as a rule for a cordial academic atmosphere in universities.
"I had given suggestions to the state government. Now it is the job of the state government to make a rule," Tripathi told reporters here today.
The Governor had suggested to set up an expert committee comprising three to five members, to advise the state government on the proposed code.
"A committee will look into the suggestions and take a call on them," he added.
Earlier this month, state Higher Education Minister Partha Chatterjee admitted having received the "suggestions" from the Governor and had said that such a 'Model Code of Conduct' should also be "introduced at the college level."
Chatterjee also promised of taking up the matter with the Chief Minister.
