State unit of BJP today said Congress-led UPA government should clear its policy on China and its repeated incursions and ask the country to withdraw its troops immediately.
"The UPA government (should) make its policy clear as far as China is concerned and ensure that repeated incursions by PLA troops are stopped forthwith," BJP state president and MLA Jugal Kishore Sharma told reporters here.
Reiterating that no political party was in favour of an escalation of the stand-off over the intrusion in the Daulat Beg Oldi sector in Ladakh, Sharma said the government should nonetheless ask the Chinese troops to withdraw immediately.
Sharma said that the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led NDA government at the Centre had followed a consistent policy towards China and Pakistan, but ever since the Manmohan Singh government had come into power, there was only confusion on both fronts.
As a result of this, China has been repeatedly violating the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and Pakistan was also continuing with its mischievous designs on the border, he alleged.
Sharma said that the message should not go out that India was a soft state incapable of defending its territories.

He said that though India has trade relations with China, the latter was quite the bigger partner.
"If India wants to be treated with respect, it should strive for an equal relationship with China in trade and other areas," Sharma said.
Expressing his full support and solidarity with the people of Ladakh, Sharma said BJP had set up a very strong party unit there which was working in close coordination with the local people who were repeatedly at the receiving end of Chinese aggression.
He said that the people of the region had made great sacrifices for the country, particularly during the 1962 war and the Kargil war in 1999.
