UPHRC seeks reply of police, admin about thrashing of woman

Uttar Pradesh Human Rights Commission today sought response from Kanpur district administration and the police over reported incident of thrashing and dragging of a woman on the road there in semi-nude condition.
Taking cognisance of news reports the commission sought a reply from Senior Superintendent of Police and District Magistrate Kanpur.
"A report has been sought from SSP and DM Kanpur about the incident taking its suo motu cognisance," member UPSHRC Asha Tiwari said.
According to a news report published today, a woman was beaten badly and dragged in semi-nude condition in presence of police in Kanpur district.
The incident took place after murder of one Deependra, with whom the woman was reportedly involved, the report said while alleging that Deependra's family members were involved in the incident.
