The Odisha Assembly today witnessed pandemonium with Opposition Congress seeking a clarification from the government on the alleged involvement of a minister in the illegal construction of an apartment here in the state capital.
"We find a minister taking name of another minister in the alleged illegal construction of an apartment here," Leader of Opposition Congress' Narasingha Mishra, who raised the question during the zero hour said.
Mishra urged the Speaker to take the matter seriously and give ruling over the issue as the Urban Development minister Pushpendra Singhdeo revealed that food and supplies minister Sanjay Dasburma's name in the list of builders who had illegally constructed apartments.
Dasburma, however, in a statement in the House said that he had resigned from the company which has been found in illegal construction of an apartment way back in 2006.
"I fail to understand why the minister took my name as I have already resigned from the Company eight years ago. I appeal the minister (Singhdeo) to make responsible statement while replying question in the House," Dasburma said.
Earlier Singhdeo on June 20, while replying a written question, had revealed Dasburma's name among the 423 people and organisation flouting the law in construction of an apartment in the city.
In 2007, the state government had lodged a complaint against Dasburma under the Odisha Development Authorities' Act 1982 section 91-1 for illegally constructing a building at Plot no 146/1960 under Bhimpur mouja (village), Singhdeo said in the reply.
A case has been pending in the BDA court against the food minister, sources added.
