Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) has directed its officials to ensure legal action against people who vandalise buses and also asked them to stop services on routes where such incidents occur.
UPSRTC Managing Director K Ravinder Naik in a letter said the officials would coordinate with district administrations and police to ensure that a 'negative antecedent' report is issued against students who vandalise buses and they are declared "ineligible" for government and private jobs.
The decision was taken after an incident in Allahabad district's Gachopur where UPSRTC-run buses were set ablaze during a protest recently, Regional Manager S K Banerjee said.
The bus services will also be temporarily stopped on the routes where the vehicles are vandalised till the time strict action is not taken, he said.
The Corporation incurs huge losses every year due to such incidents which also affect the commuters, Banerjee said.
The letter, issued on Friday, asks official that if such an incident occurs, they must immediately report it to the district magistrate and SSP concerned for an action against the accused.
Others who indulge in vandalism will be booked under stringent laws, barred from availing government benefits and will be blacklisted, the Regional Manager added.
