UPSRTC workers demand regularisation of job, equal pay; warn

Demanding regularisation of jobs and salaries in the same pay-scale as of permanent employees, workers of the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) today threatened a statewide strike over the their demands.
Protesting at the UPSTRC Regional Manager's office here, regional convener of the employees' union Gulshad Ali alleged "exploitation" by UPSTRC administration and said if their 27-point demands were not met, the union will call for a strike.
The protesters submitted a 27-point memorandum addressed to the Managing Director of the transport Corporation.
Among others the demands include special encouragement to the ITI pass employees, contractual drivers and bus conductors be given salary on the same pay-scale and regularising them after one year's service, Ali said.
In the next phase of the agitation the supporters of the employees Union would stage demonstrations at the deputy Labour Commissioner's office on 24 August, he said.
