Following the arrest, the team sealed two call centres in Delhi from where calls were made to gullible persons.
"Eight persons have been arrested today. Gang leader Harvinder Singh was arrested from near Yamaha crossing. The company's office was located at Laxmi Nagar in Delhi. Two call centres there have been sealed and documents seized for scrutiny," Triveni Singh, Additional Superintendent of Police, UPSTF, said today.
"Sixty-four call centres were their channel partners. These call centres are located in Delhi, Gurgaon and Noida. Around fifty percent of these call centres are in Delhi and 30 percent in Gurgaon and the rest in Noida, Agra, Etah and other towns," he said.
"UPSTF team was getting complaints about a fake website... Complainants had alleged that they were cheated of by the company on false promises. In the name of Reliance 3G tower installation they have duped several people. Fake Reliance letterheads were recovered from them. Further they duped people through offer of cheap international holiday packages. They also cheated on the pretext of providing loans and sanction of ATM at their place," he said.
"So far Rs 14 crore transactions have been detected. Further investigations are on," he said.
