At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in October rose by Rs 135, or 0.69 per cent, to Rs 19,700 per quintal with an open interest of 11,205 lots.
On similar lines, the spice for delivery in September traded higher by Rs 115, or 0.59 per cent, to Rs 19,675 per quintal in 4,650 lots.
Analysts attributed the rise in jeera prices at futures trade to fresh positions created by traders after pick up in demand in the physical market.
