Sugar prices were up by 1.01 per cent to Rs 3,688 per quintal in futures market today as speculators built up fresh positions amid pick-up in demand at the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, sugar for delivery in July month shot up by Rs 37, or 1.01 per cent, to Rs 3,688 per quintal with an open interest of 220 lots.
Analysts attributed the rise in sugar prices at futures trade on fresh positions created by traders due to pick-up in demand in the spot market.
