Further, tight stock position following lower supply from producing regions fuelled the uptrend.
At National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in far-month November rose by Rs 320, or 1.67 per cent, to Rs 19,380 per quintal with an open interest of 7,608 lots.
The spice for delivery in October traded higher by Rs 260, or 1.36 per cent, to Rs 19,280 per quintal in 7,587 lots.
Traders said speculative positions built up by participants amid pick-up in the domestic market as well as export demand gave the jeera prices a boost.
