At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in February inched 45 paise, or 0.10 per cent, higher to Rs 458 per kg in a business turnover of 1,291 lots.
Likewise, the metal for delivery in April contracts traded higher by 40 paise, or 0.09 per cent, at Rs 462.20 per kg in 147 lots.
Analysts said fresh positions created by participants due to pick up in demand from consuming industries at domestic spot market led to rise in copper prices at futures trade.
