Restricted supplies in the domestic spot market and some export enquiries too supported the uptrend.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in current month contract rose by Rs 475, or 2.69 per cent, to Rs 18,165 per quintal with an open interest of 5,430 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in July contract traded higher by Rs 405, or 2.29 per cent, to Rs 18,110 per quintal in 10,707 lots.
Traders said speculative positions built up by participants amid pick-up in domestic as well as export demand mainly led to the rise in jeera prices in futures trade.
