At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for delivery in December rose by Rs 118, or 1.63 per cent, to Rs 7,372 per quintal with an open interest of 3,365 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in April next year contracts gained Rs 70, or 1.00 per cent, to Rs 7,070 per quintal in 9,195 lots.
Marketmen said fresh positions created by participants due to upsurge in demand in the spot market against restricted supplies from producing regions mainly led to rise in turmeric prices at futures trade.
