However, other pulses moved in a narrow range in scattered deals and settled around previous levels.
Traders said stockists buying to meet rising demand from retailers amid restricted supplies from producing belts mainly led to the rise in urad and arhar prices.
In the national capital, urad and its dal prices moved up by Rs 50 each to Rs 5,950-6,400 and Rs 6,950-7,150 per quintal, respectively.
Urad best quality and dhoya were also edged up by a similar margin to Rs 7,150-7,750 and Rs 7,550-7,950 per quintal, respectively.
