Prices of gram dal, sugar and wheat increased while toor dal and urad dal decreased in the wholesale foodgrains market during the week that ended in Chennai on Saturday.
Opening the week at Rs 14,200, urad dal was less by Rs 500 per quintal from Rs 14,700, ruled steady till Thursday but on Friday and Saturday fell by Rs 500, respectively, to close the week at Rs 13,200.
Toor dal opened the week at the same closing rate of Rs 13,500 and was steady till Friday when it fell by Rs 500 per quintal to close the week at Rs 13,000.
Gram dal was up by Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 10,000 from Rs 9,900 and rose by Rs 200 per quintal on Saturday to finish the week at Rs 10,200.
Sugar opened the week at the same closing rate of Rs 3,900 and its price marginally increased on Saturday by Rs 20 per quintal to close the week at Rs 3,920.
Moong dal opened the week at Rs 9,000, an increase of Rs 500 per quintal over its closing rate, but its price fell on Friday by Rs 200 per quintal and again the next day by Rs 300 to close the week at Rs 8,500.
Similarly, wheat opened this week at its closing rate of Rs 2,900 and its price increased on Saturday by Rs 50 to finish the week at Rs 2,950.
90 kg maida was at Rs 2600 and 90 kg sooji at Rs 3200, ruled steady throughout the week.
