Elsewhere, other pulses moved in a narrow range on little doing due to absence of demand at prevailing higher levels and settled at previous levels.
Marketmen said speculative buying activity by stockists amid scarcity of stocks mainly attributed to the rise in select pulses prices.
As pulses continued to soar to touch up to Rs 200 per kg, intelligence agencies were yesterday asked to crack down on cartels, while futures trade was curbed to check speculation and buffer stock was hiked over 5-times to 8 lakh tonnes to boost supply in a multi-pronged approach.
In the national capital, urad and its dal chilka local rose by Rs 200 each to Rs 10,800-12,300 and Rs 11,100-11,200 per quintal, respectively. Its dal best quality and dhoya followed suit and traded higher by a similar margin to Rs 11,200-11,700 and Rs 11,600-11,900 per quintal, respectively.
