Urad, its dal strengthen on rising demand

Prices of urad and its dal advanced by up to Rs 100 per quintal at the wholesale pulses market today on the back of rising demand from retailers and dal mills.

However, masoor and its dal slipped on lack of buying support.

Traders said besides soaring demand from retailers and dal mills, fall in supplies from producing belts kept urad and its dal prices lower.

In the national capital, urad and its dal chilka moved up by Rs 50 and Rs 100 to Rs 4,150-5,350 and Rs 5,300-5,400 per quintal, respectively. Its dal best quality and dhoya followed suit and enquired higher by Rs 100 each to Rs 5,400-5,900 and Rs 5,850-6,050 per quintal, respectively.

On the other hand, masoor small and bold shed Rs 50 each to Rs 3,850-4,150 and Rs 3,900-4,200 per quintal. Its dal local and best quality traded lower by Rs 100 each to Rs 4,500-4,900 and Rs 4,600-5,000 per quintal, respectively.

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal): urad Rs 4,150-5,350, urad Chilka (local) Rs 5,300-5,400, urad best Rs 5,400-5,900, Dhoya Rs 5,850-6,050, Moong Rs 5,100-5,600, Dal Moong Chilka local Rs 5,700-5,900, Moong Dhoya local Rs 6,300-6,800 and best quality Rs 6,800-7,000.
