"As per a survey conducted by Guru Nanak Dev University, the uranium content in the groundwater in Himachal is not at alarming levels...The maximum concentration of uranium at 37.40 ppb was recorded in Kasol village, 42 km from Kullu town," HP Irrigation and Public Health Minister Ravinder Ravi told Vidhan Sabha in reply to a query.

As per the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board of India, uranium in the groundwater beyond 60 ppb is alarming.

"Since there is no health hazard associated with uranium in the state, the government is not planning to take any precautionary steps," the minister said.
