The US today asked Pakistan to bring to justice the perpetrators financiers and sponsors of the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, saying it was an assault on the collective safety and security.
"As President Obama has stated, the Mumbai perpetrators, financiers, and sponsors must be held accountable for their crimes," a State Department spokesperson told PTI as India is marking the fifth anniversary of the Mumbai terror attacks today.
"These kinds of terrorist attacks are an assault on the collective safety and security of us all. Our governments are cooperating closely to combat the threat of global terrorism," the spokesperson said.
"On that terrible November day, the world watched with horror as terrorists seized one of the world's greatest cities killing and wounding hundreds of innocent men, women and children, including six Americans," the official said.
"Despite the carnage, the perpetrators failed in their mission. The display of courage, resolve and unity displayed by Mumbaikars was stronger than those cowardly acts of terrorists. Five years later we have not forgotten," the spokesperson said.
