"I can tell you that we fully apply the Leahy law in Pakistan, and no aid to the Pakistani military can or does go to any units that are credibly implicated in abuses," State Department Spokesman John Kirby told reporters at his daily news conference yesterday.
The Leahy amendment restricts US to provide civilian and military aid to armies which are involved in extra-judicial killings.
Kirby was responding to questions on reports of extra-judicial killings in the Karachi, specifically to the MQM leaders and members.
"We raise these human rights concerns regularly in the bilateral discussions that we have across the region," he added.
"We also encourage the investigation of all allegations of these kinds of violations and abuses in a manner that's transparent, open to the public, and that meets international standards of human rights. We want to see these people being held to account. I don't have anything additional with these specific cases," Kirby said.
