US Deputy Special Rep for AfPak in India; hold talks
Press Trust of India New Delhi India and the US held high-level consultations on Afghanistan to discuss ways to enhance regional cooperation for a stable and peaceful Afghanistan.
The US inter-agency delegation was led by US Deputy Special Representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan Laurel Miller and met with government officials, civil society, and political party leaders.
"The consultations helped advance our shared commitment to regional cooperation on working toward a stable and prosperous," a US embassy release said here today.
"As President Obama and Prime Minister Modi outlined in their 2015 Joint Statement, the US and India share the commitment for a secure, stable, and prosperous Afghanistan.
"The leaders have repeatedly asserted the importance of a sustainable, inclusive, sovereign, and democratic political order in Afghanistan for the benefit of the entire region. As part of this commitment, Miller led an interagency delegation to New Delhi, India from February 16 to 18 to continue high- level US-India consultations on Afghanistan," it said.
