At least four suspected militants have been killed in a US drone strike targeting a military compound in the country's restive North Waziristan region, Pakistan media reported.
The attack took place around last midnight in Qutab Khel village, five kilometres south of Miranshah, the main town of North Waziristan tribal region, bordering Afghanistan, a stronghold for Taliban and al-Qaeda linked militants.
According to local media reports, US unmanned aircraft fired two missiles at a house suspected of being a militant hideout in Miranshah.
News agency AFP, however, reported three deaths, The Dawn said.
"A US drone fired two missiles on a militant compound, killing at least three suspected insurgents," a senior security official was quoting as saying by the Dawn.
A security official in Peshawar confirmed the attack and casualties.

Another official in Miramshah put the death toll at four and said a fifth militant was seriously injured.
The report however said, the identities of those killed in the strike were not immediately known but officials suspect them to be of Afghan origin.
North Waziristan is one of seven semi-autonomous regions in Pakistan's Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) governed by tribal laws.
Plagued by Pakistan's Tehrik-i-Taliban, the region is known to be infested with militants including those from al-Qaeda and other armed extremist organisations.
