US lawmakers greet Indian-Americans on Holi

US lawmakers today greeted Indian-Americans on the occasion of Holi, saying that it is an opportunity for all faiths to come together and celebrate the arrival of spring.
"Happy Holi to everyone in Silicon Valley, and around the world! I am proud to join so many people in celebrating a Spring festival also known as the festival of colours," Congressman Mike Honda said.
"As we celebrate the beginning of a new season with festivities that include bright colours, music and dance, let us wish our loved ones and friends a prosperous spring. I wish everyone a joyous festival," he said.
"I wish all the communities and families celebrating the festival of colours a very happy Holi! As we mark the end of winter, let us joyously welcome the renewal of spring with friends, music," Congresswoman Judy Chu said.
"May this Holi celebration welcome a prosperous and colourful spring for all communities," said Ami Bera, the only Indian-American in the current Congress.
Holi is a time to celebrate strengthening of community and family bonds, said Tulsi Gabbard, the first Hindu elected to the US Congress.

"Since ancient times this festival of colours has commemorated divine pastimes, such as when Lord Krishna played Holi with His associates and devotees. I celebrate Holi along with millions of Hindus in the United States and around the world. I wish all a very happy Holi!" she said.
"Holi provides an opportunity for all faiths to come together and celebrate the arrival of spring. As you gather with your loved ones for this grand festival of colours, I hope that you find peace, hope and harmony," said Congressman Mark Takano.
The ancient Hindu festival of Holi celebrates the rejuvenation and renewal of springtime, said Congresswoman Barbara Lee.
"After the end of a long winter, Holi is a wonderful way to celebrate the diversity and culture in our communities, families and nation. I wish all those around the world who are celebrating a safe, joyous and colourful Holi," she said.
"The Festival of colours is a time of joy and happiness in my district, across the country and around the world. I pray that everyone taking part in Holi festivities enjoys the harmony and prosperity of the season," said Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman.
