US official to visit Sri Lanka
Press Trust of India Washington US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Nisha Desai will travel to Sri Lanka later this week to discuss a range of bilateral issues, including post-conflict reconciliation, justice and accountability.
Her visit is scheduled from January 31 to February 2.
While in Sri Lanka, Biswal will travel to Tamil-dominated Jaffna, where she will meet Northern Provincial Council officials and civil society leaders, said a statement released by the State Department.
Biswal will then travel to London for meetings with British officials on February 3. She will also go to Geneva for meetings on sponsoring a resolution on Sri Lanka in the March session of the UN Human Rights Council.
"This resolution will build upon previous resolutions in 2012 and 2013, and will urge Sri Lanka to do more to promote reconciliation, justice and accountability in the wake of the civil conflict," the Department of State said.
