The US Treasury Department is levying sanctions against suspected maritime drug trafficker Carlos Arnoldo Lobo for moving multi-ton loads of cocaine for Mexican, Guatemalan and Honduran drug kingpins and their organizations.
Lobo, who is Honduran, was sanctioned under the Foreign Narcotics Kingpin Designation Act. He has been indicted on US drug trafficking charges in the Southern District of Florida.
The action today seizes his property and interests in property in the United States and prohibits US citizens from engaging in transactions with him.
The Treasury Department alleges that Lobo moves drugs for Sinaloa Cartel leader Joaquin "Chapo" Guzman, other members of the cartel and the Honduran drug-trafficking organization Los Cachiros . He also is suspected of laundering illicit drug proceeds into real estate, maritime vessels, and seafood shipping businesses.
