The US Treasury Department is levying sanctions against three men suspected of helping finance terrorist groups in Iraq and Syria.
Two, who are based in Kuwait, allegedly support the Syria-based group al-Nusrah Front, which has ties to al-Qaida. The other is suspected of helping the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant.
Undersecretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence David Cohen today called on the Kuwaiti government to do more to disrupt terrorist financing.
The three individuals sanctioned are: Shafi Sultan Mohammed al-Ajmi , Hajjaj Fahd Hajjaj Muhammad Sahib al-'Ajmi and Abd al-Rahman Khalaf 'Ubayd Juday' al-'Aniz.
The action freezes any assets the three might have in US jurisdiction and bans US citizens from doing business with them.
