"India and Pakistan is to work out what will be their relations. But, the relation between India and the US is very cordial and had never been so close earlier. We support India's effort to bring peace and counter terrorism in this region," US Consul-General in Kolkata Craig L Hall told reporters here today.
With any change of leadership in the ensuing elections in the US, there would be no impact on the relations between the two nations, he said.
The US was interested to see the regional cooperation between India's North Eastern region and other South Asian countries.
"Cooperation between the Indian state of Tripura and Bangladesh is a perfect example of regional cooperation, where both had benefited from improved and increased connectivity," Hall added.
Hall and his wife today also met Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar.
