The US today threatened Iran with the "strongest sanctions in history" if it does not give up its nuclear weapons programme and destabilising behaviour in the region and sought the support of countries like India to put pressure on Tehran.
In the aftermath of the US withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear agreement with Iran, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in his first major foreign policy speech demanded major changes from Iran and said America will not allow the country to develop a nuclear weapon: "Not now, not ever."
"These will be the strongest sanctions in history when complete."
