UT Chandigarh Adviser K K Sharma today called for single permit system for Chandigarh, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir to make seamless travel possible for tourists.
"We are planning to come up with a Single Permit system - north of Delhi applicable to all northern states Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, J-K, to make seamless travel possible for tourists, especially tourist buses and cars coming here", said Sharma while addressing conference on tourism.
"To boost tourism in north, we need to develop a system under which a tourist doesn't have to pay taxes at entry points of all states, rather tourist buses and cars should be asked to pay a single permit tax applicable to all states.
"For this, we need integration between senior representatives of all northern states, National Highways Authority of India and Home Ministry etc. We will meet and discuss the same with all concerned to make this possible soon," informed Sharma.
He further said a tourist facilitation centre will soon come up here, besides setting up a convention centre to boost tourism.
"The aim of the Centre is to make visit permits easy and smooth for a lot of tourists who face many hurdles in getting passes issued due to security reasons " he said.
