UT distributes free bicycle scheme for school students

Chief Minister of Puducherry, N Rangasamy today handed over bicycles free of cost to students of government schools under a scheme of the department of Social Welfare at a function here.
As many as 31,718 students of class IX in government schools are the beneficiaries of the scheme. It covers students during the last two academic years.
Later, Social Welfare Minister P Rajavelu told PTI that the government has invested Rs 10.25 crore for the scheme and the beneficiaries include 16,414 girl students.
