Uttar Pradesh receives rain

The places which received rain included Chandradeepghat, Balrampur, Bhinga, Mirzapur, Dumariyaganj, Salon, Khalilabad, Basti, Elginbridge, Bilgram, Etawah, Fatehpur, Gazipur, Bansgaon, Ankinghat, Dhauraha and Jalesar.

Met office sources said heavy rain and thundershowers would occur at a few places over the state during next 48 hours.

A Central Water Commission report said that while Ganga was rising at Fatehgarh, Sharda and Ghaghra were still flowing above the red mark at Palia Kalan and Elgin Bridge, Ayodhya.

Rapti was maintaining a rising trend from Bahraich to Birdghat in Gorakhpur while Sai was rising in Lucknow and Rae Bareli.

A report from Barabanki said that the Ghaghra which is in spate was posing a danger to about two dozen villages and officials were working round the clock to check any breach in embankments.

The Barabanki district authorities took stock of the situation and issued necessary directives in this regard.
