Uttar Pradesh receives rain

The places which received rain included Lucknow, Saharanpur, Kunda, Nakur, Shahjahanpur, Iglas, Bagpat, Auraiya, Deoband, Churk, Banda, Neemsar, Muhammadi, Sandila, Amethi, Garotha, and Jhansi.

The Met office has forecast that rain and thundershowers are likely at few places over eastern and at many places over western part of the state.

A Central Water Commission report said that Ganga was flowing near the red mark at Fatehgarh and Ballia and maintaining a rising trend from Kanpur to Ballia while Yamuna was just under the danger mark at Mathura.

Sharda and Ghaghra were still above the red mark respectively at Palia Kalan and Elgin Bridge, Ayodhya and Tutipar, the report said, adding that Rapti, Burhi Rapti were close to the red mark at some places.

Kuano river is also in spate and above the red mark at Chadnradeepghat in Gonda, it added.
